hi, i want to put a heating mat with ceramic tile in my bathroom. if the sub floor is good plywood can i put the mat right to the plywood then tile or do i have to use backer board? i was also told i can us a fiber material also over plywood subfloor to eliminate cement board? has anyone heard or used this method? ive looked on the internet at videos & have seen it done different ways from thinset to self leveler, put thinset then mat let dry then more thinset & tile. others put down mat thinset and tile all at once? does it matter? confused.
