I have a carpeting living area and I wanted to section off a corner and install hardwoods just large enough to place a bar with a few stools (it would be where two walls came together). Is it possible to just rip out a section of carpet, hard hardwoods, and make the seams look decent where they come together? If so, what are the steps or if anyone knows a step by step guide for this. Your help is greatly appreciated!

It is possible---is it possible to simply pull back the carpet in the area to get the wood?

I always just call in a carpet installer to reinstall the carpet---Those guys are magicians (my carpet work always looks a little wrong)

Doing it your self is possible with a knee kicker and a carpet knife.

Rusty Baker is a carpet guy---I hope he sees this.----Mike---

Ir's doable, but not easy for a DIYer. Laying it back and putting the wood down, no problem. Stretching the carpet back without a wrinkle can be tough, if you aren't a pro. Probably better to see what an installer would charge to put the carpet back. Here it would most likely run $50-$75. Probably run that much to rent the tools.

Well said,Rusty. I refer a lot of business to my carpet man----Good installers are able to make a modification like that look like it was always there.----I don't even like to make a simple doorway to transition .--Mike---
