Am I able to put radiant heating under a hardwood floor?

Also, if I'm installing unfinished hardwood in a kitchen with many cut outs and inserts which will cause many face nails to be used would it be worth it to just full trowel fill te entire floor?

When we installed our electric radiant heat in the kitchen, the manufacturer indicated that it was safe to use under hardwood flooring. We planned on a stone floor, so that was OK also. If you plan to nail in the hardwood, you need to be extremely careful that you do not nail through the electric floor heat, that would be most unfortunate. This can likely be avoided by using short enough nails that they do not penetrate the subfloor, however if you use an electric or pneumatic nailer, it is possible that a few of the nails are overdriven, in which case the tip of the nail might poke through the subfloor. You may want to consider hand nailing the floor to avoid this unfortunate possibility.

Yes, use Zmesh radiant under your hardwood and you can nail through it anywhere you want. It's low voltage, even slow growth heat so it won't create hot spots that can warp the wood.
