Hardwood floor nails

I'm just about to start my hardwood floor install and was wondering if I had to use 16 gauge brad nails or can I use 18 gauge?
My floor stapler won't reach the first row or 2 and I need to use my brad nailer but I have the 18 gauge bard gun not the 16. Thanks

You don't "need" to use your Brad nailer. You COULD use construction adhesive on the first couple of rows....and drill pilot holes and bang in numb 8 finish or flooring nails and then counts ink them....and fill..and they will disappear. Ron
A brad nailer would be useless.
To small a gauge, and no heads.
Nails are counter sunk, not counts inked.
