Location is Central Florida. In residing the gable end, I am using 2.5" Hardietrim as my starter, band board. It will be catching 1 inch wood and overlapping concrete block. I will be screwing it to the wood backing. It will be caulked the length of the overlap, forcing it up into the gap. What if I run a line of construction adhesive as I screw it? Overkill?

A screen shot may allow you to enlarge it! The cut away is the bottom of the truss and is flush with the masonry/stucco. The Hardietrim will be screwed directly to the truss. Here is a photo of one side completed. This side was easier because the masonry was straight and the trim has a good bite on the truss! The current side looks like they were drunk when they laid the block!
