First hope this is the right place for this question. I'm building an addition to my house that's essentially a new wing -- full but unfinished basement; 1st story with mudroom/laundry/full bath; second story with master bedroom. they're telling me I need to retro-fit hard-wired smokes to the old part of the house, not just in the new spaces. I'm in Bergen county, New Jersey and acting as my own contractor.

Ask if hard wired interconnect in the new area with wireless interconnects to the old area would be accepted . Kiddie make a good line.
