Hallo.
I have been DIY'ing my entire life, I grew up on farms and ranches and have a farm of my own now. I ran accross this forum attempting to look up information on treating posts for pole barns. No luck on the treating info but I liked this forum and so here I am.
This new farm of ours has a great many pole barn structures some of them pretty ******* on their construction, although whoever built them really believed in overkill..... full dimension 12x12 and 14x 14 posts etc. I was pretty impresses with all the old timbers and beams the barns and house are made of and wanted to refix up all of the buildings and to try to keep it all somewhat with the same original character.
I went and did a cost projection on the wood I would need early this last spring and nearly had heart failure. So I then researched sawmills and bought one.
I have had the mill setup for about seven months now and have gotten pretty proficient at it. I now have about 15,000 brd feet of logs decked up and another 8,000 on the way. I probably have enough wood to actually build all new buildings now lol. Now that I have built an overhead trolley system to get my logs to the mill from the main deck, I am ready to start figuring out how to rebuild all these buildings.
I figured being a part of this forum might help with some of that. I am looking forward to seeing you all in the posts.
