Gutterglove salesman says the heat from the device will prevent ice backup.
I am worried that with the wide soffit the water might freeze before before it contacts the gutter with the heat element. Roof is warm and the soffit is cold
until contacting the heat low on the soffit. Any advice would be welcome. I live in Minnesota so I want something that works for the huge price to pay. I am getting too old to rake roof.

This seems to me a salesman that has no clue about ice dams that make water enter the walls and make water spot areas on ceilings adjacent to exterior walls.

tell him you want a big a$$ list of references.....then call those references and talk to them.
