need to put up gutters! Dont have a plain wood fascia to attach to..

I've put up 2 photos...

I want to put up half round copper gutters (maybe!) the fascia has to boards..the top is 2 1/8 " and the bottom is 3 "...I guess the top is the "crown" piece? and the bottom is the actual fascia...Please educate me after looking at the photos

A drip edge is already installed...if the top board is actual crown piece..can it rot? I have already stained and sealed...

Any advice is welcome! Also bout copper gutters! Looked at eurocopper as sold on guttersupply..online store

In order to get a stable surface to install the gutters with the proper pitch, you might need to add wood under the top cap piece. It depends on the run involved. You can also shorten the run by crowning the gutter and have an outlet on each side.
Copper gutters are great, in both looks and price.

so u think the gutter hangers are to be attached on the cap piece? I was wondering that, and after measuring found the cap piece to be too small..I was considering adding enough to get the minimum 3" needed...I think I found where that is standard for fascia..correct me if i'm wrong..if i put the gutter hangers on the lower board, I am afraid the gutters will sit too low and the cap piece with rot!

The gutter length will determine the amount of drop from one side of the gutter to a single downspout. If you have a 24 foot gutter with 1 downspout, the drop will be 1/8" per foot or a 3" from one side to the other.
If you go with 2 downspouts(one on each end)the drop is only 1 1/2" per side. With this scenario, the high point is in the middle of the run and slopes to each side.
Houses I've worked on usually have a single fascia board consisting of either a 1x6 or a 1x8, with the 1x6 being more common.
To determine what you need to add, you need to know how long the gutter run is and how you want to set it up.

The pic of the garage..so I have 2 sides to consider..the other side is more complicated! I'll post photos later!

So the length of the garage gutter is roughly 40 ft..probably lil less I was going to go with the downspout on the opposite side of the door ( door is on north..downspout will be on south)

I've read that the pitch is anywhere from 1/4" per foot to 1/2" per foot..so the 1/8 pitch is in ballpark!

Do you recommend a 2 downspout system with that long of a run?

Not sure if you have cedar boards there, but you may want to research Copper to Cedar connections before you go that way.

looked it up...cedar roof and copper gutters..bad idea..cant find any problem with cedar fascia and copper hangers.

So should i extend the cap cedar to 3 inches and use that as the fascia?

The number of downspouts(and the gutter) will also depend on the size of the roof shedding the water and how much water you get in a given year. The system needs to be sized based on the region. In Mt. Washington, NH, you might have oversized gutters and leaders(3x4). In NY, you can get by with the regular sized(2x3) leaders.

roof pitch on garage is 9/12 and main house is 12/12..I am not a roofer..that information is from the blueprints..hope I explained pitch correctly!

I don't see any 40 foot runs. The garage looks to be 20 feet or so.

blueprint of garage says it it 32'x32'...guessed on length of the gutter run I live in Missouri on top a hill with no trees.....

How long should a gutter run be? As I asked before, do I need 2 downspouts?

Cedar and copper can coexist as cedar siding and copper gutters..looks like a big no no for cedar shake roof and copper gutters
