I understand the general rule-of-thumb is to grout the inside of tiles and grout around the perimeter. I want to install ONE 6-foot line of 3x8" tiles as a wall accent (1/8" spacing). Grout the space between adjacent tiles, or just caulk the whole thing ? (I would like to caulk).

Id say it would be just fine.. follow instructions. I used it in the shower and some other places I missed with regular grout. It is just like regular caulk in its consistency and needs to be wiped off before hardening tho. Especially since you said its just on an accent wall..

It may look good when first installed, but will not weather and wear like the grout around it and will stick out like a sore thumb very shortly there after.

It's also one thing to fill a small gap in grout and using it as grout. Caulk shrinks and will not look good after a few months.
