Check with your AHJ (people who issue permits and do inspections).
#1 they see a lot of cases of people trying to solve the same problem, and have a sense of what to use.
#2 if there are any regulatory issues with removing the conduit, they can tell you that too.
Generally builders don’t install conduit for no reason. They have a city requirement etc. they are dealing with.
If you are opposed to the idea of talking to the AHJ, then talk to in-town electrical supply houses and ask them what they recommend. They can tell you the exact same stuff. By “electrical supply house” I mean literally that, NOT Home Depot or ACE.
