Hello
Do you always have to put the grounding wire through the screw in the clamp? Or can it connect to the pipe and the two outter most screws would hold it to the pipe via the clamp? #2 wire that has sheathing won’t fit through that small of a hole

The grounding/bonding wire goes through the screw.
The other screws are for a solid connection to the pipe.

If you do not remove the insulation your not making a ground/bond connection.

Every clamp, like the one shown, that I have seen will take a number 2. Do not twist the wires as they must be perfectly aligned to fit into the hole. It is a very tight fit.

That has sheathing? Are you trying to run through this clamp and onward to another clamp on the other ground rod? That's an elegant way to do it, but it's not required.

Hey guys... how would a split-bolt work for this application?
Yes that’s what I’m trying to do. It’s for a hot water heater and gas pipe but they’re too far away from the panel so I can’t do it separately

Would you happen to know if this fits on 1 inch black gas pipe? I know it says 1 inch but the OD is about 1 1/4 and I can’t find ones like these that are 1 1/4 >

The one you posted states it is good for 1" pipe. If it says it will fit 1" pipe then I can only assume it will.

Ran to the Home Depot and got one. It fits but the screws only go half way through the threads on the clamp so don’t think it’s best for 1” gas pipe

There are larger clamps but the price is astronomical for them. They range from $40- over $100.
Go back to lowes and get some longer screws. I am surprised it doesn't fit.

I think I’m just going to cut the wire and put two clamps next to each other on the same pipe. I think that should be fine right? I have the larger clamps at hand anyways
