Have a question about connecting the ground wire between a retrofit housing and an led insert module. I plan to snip off the quick connects and use twist caps to connect the wires together.

Question is about the pigtail ground wire that comes from the LED module. There is already a ground wire that is attached within the retrofit housing. Would it be correct to discard the ground pigtail from the led module?

1st, do not cut off the quick connector. It is an easy way to make connection and easy to disconnect if removing the insert. As to the ground, I would connect the 1 in the housing with the insert wire to provide a good ground to the LED module.

So the ground wire from the LED unit, that goes to a quick connect, and then has a ground wire coming off the quick connect. That ground wire coming off the quick connect is not going to be utilized. Is that correct?

On the end of that wire is a fitting that is for a screw to go through

I agree, connect the pigtail to the green wire that's zip tied to the connector in the housing. The ground to the module serves a dual purpose, it's for ground fault safety and EMI reduction. Led's have a bad side effect of radiating EMI that can interfere with other devices nearby and in some cases interfere with devices of their own kind that are on the same circuit. It's there for a reason, connect it so it goes to the Equipment Grounding Conductor of the branch circuit.
