Hey, any tips for cutting in control joints in a slab? How about edging? Would really like to not screw up on the first day. I have some DIY experience, but it didn't exactly come out great. Appreciate any guidance, tips, words of wisdom/encouragement that you may have. Thanks a mill

Pouring a slab is not a DIY job or something that you should be cutting your teeth on first. It is a pretty expensive mistake if it is not done right the first time. If you can find a concrete contractor who will show you how while they pour the slab, that would be the best way. Or just chill a case of beer, fix them some burgers or brats for when they are done to thank them for showing you how and working hard on a Saturday Morning.

you can't learn from a forum but: 1st question - use a jointer,,, 2nd question - an edger,,, the beer suggestion sounds good - how close to atlanta are you ?

encouraging words - BALLANTINE ALE or YEUNGLING ! :wink2:

u-tube might help IF you don't mind dropping your phone in the wet mud

Not sure what, or how much, you're pouring, but both edging & jointing are relatively easy. One of the first things I learned to do w/o making too big of a mess when I went to work with my Dad at the ripe old age of 8. Just think of them both as a boat, keep the front edge up slightly in the direction you're going so it doesn't "sink". Much lie anything with concrete, timing is key. Trying to do either task too early is as bad as waiting too long IMO.
