Granite is not all the same---some would make a suitable shower if you don't mind some extra work sealing and cleaning it.----

Porcelain or ceramic is the first choice because of it's ease of maintenance---

Marble of any kind is usually regretted as the shower ages-----the soft absorbent nature of that stone means a shorter life before the material is discolored.

Actually, you should use porcelain, and keep them kinda small for the shower floor. I recommend no bigger than 3.5". Although porcelain is ceramic, when I think of ceramic I think of regular soft bisque wall tiles, which should not be used on a shower floor or any floor.
