I am looking to build a deck out of cedar. Most places seem to carry #2 grade cedar. Is it worth trying to upgrade to #1 grade cedar for the deck. I am located in South Central Wiscsonsin.

Thanks

It depends on what you think looks good. Generally, better grade means better looks, but people who want the rustic look may go after the lower grade. Lower grade, though, means more knots, splits, warps, etc, that may end in waste. Knots, especially, may fall out.
