I've heard that these things have little to no overspray. Can you use these handheld airless without taping and covering everything up in a interior house room paint project?
Nope. all they do is require less paint to spray. Other than that, no different from an airless, as far as overpsray is concerned. Also, the cheap ones are pure garbage.
Where did you hear these claims, out of curiosity?
I think it was Wagner that had TV ads back in the 70s-80s that showed folks spraying inside their home right up against curtains along with other spraying methods that I'm sure resulted in runs shortly after the camera stopped.
Spraying isn't as easy as just pulling the trigger! While an airless typically has less overspray than a conventional gun, there is always overspray.
