Good paint for concrete basement walls

737 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Gymschu
I have a 60 year old home with poured concrete basement walls, still bare.
I used to have minor water issues but I did major regrading and gutter extending 2 years ago and haven't had any issues since.

I'm trying to make my basement a little nicer looking and I'm searching for an effective and reasonably priced paint for bare concrete. Preferably something that can be sprayed.

I was considering drylok extreme, not because I need waterproofing, but because it is priced reasonably well ($140/5gal) and is designed to go on concrete. Also I know the waterproofing claims are dubious at best, but I figure If I ever did get a little water again in extreme circumstances, It may survive better than regular paint.

Thoughts? Thanks

Drylok is a good primer for below grade masonry. It's not really intended as a finish paint but many use it as one. It takes a pretty stout airless to pump drylok or similar. If you just spray on wall paint it may suck in too much to look great.
