Okay, this is the opposite of what most people want to do. I originally planned to place two, two plug outlets into a cabinet in my bathroom. The electrician therefore has 2 sets of wires going into the recess. In the end, I found a 4 plug "strip" that is going to work much better. All of the wires need to be "in use," though, or outlets further down the circuit won't work due to the interruption.

So how to do I go from wiring for 2 gang to 1 gang? Can I just connect both blacks to the same outlet, etc? Or am I stuck and have to put in two different items unless I want to rip out walls and rewire?

2 cables (blk/wht/green(bare)) in one box is common feed in/feed out

you can wire them to the same receptacle or you can use short pigtails and wirenuts
