All the time I see threads, posts and articles on the "green scene"

You want GREEN?

Here let me give you a few examples of green WITHOUT buying anything:

Cast Iron Bathtub:

If you have one leave it, Cast Iron Holds heat, This will save you money with home heating and give you a longer hotter bath.

Cast Iron Heat:

If you have this LEAVE IT. Don't switch to crappy element system heaters just to go and buy cast iron space heater in a few years.

Shorter Showers:

Forget the "low flow" shower heads, get the hell out of the shower in a few minutes, STOP DAY DREAMING in the shower, That will save water!

The Two Part Sink:

Yes, These were made so you can SOAK your dished instead of RUNNING THE WATER for hours......Yea, leave the twp part sink alone!

That's just a few to start with, FEEL free to post your tips here!!!

Dishes can be soaked AND washed in the sink. Most people don't really NEED to use the dishwasher. Washing them by hand saves water, electricity and time.

The one 'green' thing I would like to see come back is the 'solar clothes dryer' or, as we called it, the clothes line. lol. Although, I've heard that some cities/towns have an ordinance against them.
Oh and ahhh yes, remember the simple clothes line
When using the old clothes line method make sure you check for wasp in your shirts and pants:laughing: this also applies to the old outhouse method also:wink:

Our dishes actually get DONE more often, and don't pile up as much, since we got our dishwasher.
I have been plumbing for 35 yrs and I have never had a garbage disposal or dishwasher in my house. biggest waste of money ever invented. But for those of you that have them thank you for feeding me. and keep on plugging up them lines.

You haven't seen my wife do dishes
The dishwasher will use less water

I have to push her to use the clothesline (IE shut off the dryer)
I even volunteer to hang the clothes out

Greenhouse & passive solar heating
--Can you say over 100 degrees on a sunny day? I can
2nd picture is sort of what the passive heater will look like inside the green house
It will circulate house air - greenhouse air will not enter the house

One person built an air intake for the back of his dryer
It now sucks HOT attic air down into the dryer
Not sure how well it works yet - he is still testing

No disposal - sink drain run goes all the way across the basement
Its bad enough with just reg junk as a build-up

Outside solar shower - coming soon

This is the basic solar heating idea
Soda cans to soak up the heat
They work
2nd pic shows 85+ heated air coming into the house from the 2 panel system shown in my other post
