I am drywalling a 1,400 sq ft basement ceiling and walls....

Was talking to someone about adheasive, in the past I used glue tubes, with caulk guns...which ran out fast, hands hurt at the end... annoying...

they said to use adheasive foam with a foam gun like the spray foam people do, just this goes on the studs face instead

anyone use foam adheasive before with drywall? found a few articles on it online, and claims stuff like one can of it can replace 30 cans of normal drywall glue, faster application, no pumping a calk gun... dries in a few hours instead of a day or more...

opinions?

we've always ran adheasive down the joists then put the panel up and screwed it as normal...

the adheasive works as two things... extra support, and stiffens up the wall more, also helps prevent screw pops.... and also works as a bridging medium, so if you have a gap on a stud or it bowes in or something, the adheasive will fill that gap and make it more stable / keep it flat when it dries

A lot of rockers are now using glue on the studs then just a very few screws in the field to hold till glue sets up then going back and removing those screws. Screw perimeter same as always. They say this almost completely does away with screw pops. Now to answer original question No I have never used or heard of anyone using foam.

Only place I've seen foam used is in places that build moduler homes.
I can see it being a mess to work with.

one more thing don't ever use sub floor adhesive for drywall glue. why because in a few months or weeks after you painted you will be sitting in the home and see that it bled through the drywall and mud and primer and paint. and the fix is expensive.
