Hey all. Just joined this....very busy forum. Excellent stuff. I have been a diy-er for the past 20yrs. Do I have any formal qualifications in this industry? Not on your life! But what i do have is experience.

In the past 15years I have been in the investment property game. You know...buy a fixer-upper than sell it for profit. Its fun and profitable. I have pretty much indepth knowledge of anything renovating, buidling, painting, tiling and interior design, garden landscapes, decking, welding, plumbing etc. Basically the only thing i dont do is electrical!...i leave that to the experts....dont want to zap myself. :surrender:

Actually I lie...I hold a certificate as a paint expert, having completed a course with a paint academy. This basically has armed me with the know-how of what paints, brushes etc to use. What colors and features to create moods in different rooms, how to prep a room and so on.

I have also worked for a large hardware store here in oz. I was in the tool section. So you could say i know my tools. Have almost all the tools myself. Each and every one of those tools are my babies. Yes i'm obsessed. :)

Anyway hope to learn some new tips from you all and maybe help some of you along the way.

Cheers
Marianne

Ps. Did you notice my name?? Yep I am a female....and yes i can and do all of the above. Hey never under estimate a female diy-er!

Welcome to the forum, diy-er. Looking forward to your posts. I was able to visit Perth back in '68, very nice. Be safe, G

Marianne:

Do you still have Mitre-10 stores down there? I seem to remember they were among the most common hardware stores in Australia.

how ya going G and KB.

Thanks for your replies. KB, yep mitre 10 stores are still here. Bunnings have pretty much taken over with huge warehouses popping up all over the country. The warehouses were modelled after the Home Depot in the states. I was lucky enough to help setup the 1st of its kind in my area. And then get to work in the tool section. Boy was i in my element!

Yes, this is a great place. Lots of wonderful people.

They have helped me renovate my basement. Without them, I would never have been able to do it.........

Good Luck with your projects.

I can definitely see how you would've got so much help around here. I'm sure we'll bump into each other in the halls and help each other out some time too. :)

Cheers Marianne
