Gas Wall Oven at 30 in.

860 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  bsmither
We have started the Kitchen Remodel and the wife is looking for a wall-mounted (cabinet cavity?) GAS oven that is 30".

Her research has given her no joy.

We currently have a free-standing gas range-oven that is 30". It will be removed.

We are going with a 30" gas range and want a waist-high gas oven at a width the wife is used to - 30". No need to go wider, but do NOT want to go narrower.

Is there some manufacturing, safety, or other reasonable reason why she can't find such a thing?

I dont think they make residential gas wall ovens( I could be wrong, but in the last 20 years that I can remember, any kitchen renovation I worked on had electric ovens installed), just the floor combo oven cook top..dont know why, but you are better off with an electric oven..the gas gives funny flavors when you bake as natural gas has no odor, they add an onion gas to make the smell, and it flavors food....
Probably not much of a demand . Even in our area the self contained ranges are predominantly duel fuel . That is electric oven , gas cook top. Also most are convection ovens as well. A natural gas oven is not going to flavor your food. Self clean does not work nearly as well on a gas oven as an electric, and you can't get convection . I have a gas oven in our second home and while I don't mind it I see no advantage. I like to cook, bake (bread) and personally I wouldn't consider a gas oven in a new install or renovation. Electric has the temperature control, no indoor air pollution from extended run times , the self clean feature actually works, and convection when I want it.
I would like to steer clear of any gas v. electric discussion and focus on why there seems to be 24" gas wall ovens available, but not any wider.

call the manufacture and ask them..they build em..so im sure they would tell you why they dont make em..we can only guess why...
I don't recall the width of ours....but I think it's around 30"....and gas....I built my own cabinets so it's at the height we want.
Ooopssss....I stand corrected....it's electric. Stove top is gas.

We went electric because of the self clean feature

Oh. Hmm.

Actually, the wife just stumbled across a 30" gas wall mount:
American Range Legacy Series AROFG30 and AROSG30
BlueStar BWO30AGS and BWO36AGS

Manual clean, though...
