The gas valve finally gave out on my empire rh-25-1 vented console heater.
It is older(maybe early 1990's, but has been used sparingly over the years, first in a cabin, and in my garage for the last five years. consequently, it is in pretty good shape other than the gas valve is kaput. I would like to repair the furnace rather than replace it.
Empire suggests i buy a robert shaw 700-204 valve(very expensive, exceeds the value of the furnace).
there must exist a valve that will be safe and appropriate for this heater, and relatively affordable. It is running on propane, has a standing pilot, a simple millivolt dial thermostat on board, and a flue limit switch. 1/2" in, 1/2" out. The plumbing supply houses wont give me any info other than" Empire lists this valve you have to use this one or throw the whole thing away" I understand their liability issues and don't blame them one bit.
If anyone could help me track down a new valve I would be very appreciative.
Thanks
