Hi,
I recently replaced the gas valve to a Superior gas fireplace. The flame from the main burner is about 12" tall without the burner plate installed. When the burner plate (plate with many holes the flame flows through) is installed the flame does not enter and come out of plate. I checked for blockage and seems the holes are clean.
Thanks

Do you have the correct gas valve.

Ie: Natural Gas or Propane.

Propane uses a higher manifold pressure and if you put it on gas the flame will be huge.

You need a manometer and yes you need to ckeck it.

Google : gas manometer and there are some videos on how to do it.

The cheapest method is to get a old school gauge type.

With some fireplace gas valves they don't have a port to screw in a adaptor fitting. You have a tiny spud with a set screw in it which you remove and then slip the hose over from your meter.
