Is there such a thing as a cover that one can install on the flue on the home's exterior wall to prevent drafts from coming into the house? Of course, the gas fireplace is not being used.
There was a draft of cold air coming through the flue. Unfortunately, the neighbor's wood burning fireplace was fired up also. So, with no wind outside and the soot, there was a slight smell of smoke in the house.why not use the fireplace...... it keeps you warm..... ok forget it.... plug the dambed thing and cap off gas.....:yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes::yes:
They go into your lungs, are absorbed into the blood stream and are them dumped into the brain, killing off the weaker brain cells and allowing the stronger brain cells to flourish (ie. survival of the fittest, aka Darwinism).hvac dude said:hi jagans ,,,, enlighten me please .. as those unvented fireplace are not approved in canada please do share where the products of combustion go ? im curiuos tyvm
I shut off the gas valve several years ago. I've put a piece of blue tape over the switch. I don't foresee myself turning on the gas fireplace unless there's some sort of get together at my house. Otherwise, it'll probably remain off until I sell the house, of which I would have to ready it for use in order to pass inspection.Handy, follow the referenced posts regarding removal and capping of the gas line. I would also like to add 1 more important point when and if you do this. Install a tag at the cap explaining why it's capped, things happen people die, people move, things change it's always best to be sure someone else don't come in and go OH, I think it's cold I will just remove this cap and hook it up and light the fireplace. Then DIE.
If I shut off the gas supply, how could there be any safety issues?handy man ,,,, i wouldnt take any chances for your own saftey and others i would disconnect and cap gas line and as was mentioned tag it with a note ,,,, lifes to precious and only takes a few mins to to .....
