Garbage disposal is on a Gfci breaker circuit for the kitchen. It has worked for many years without tripping breaker. Not sure how long maybe 10. Turn on disposal via switch and within a second or so breaker trips. Motor does not sound like a hum. It seems the motor is running. Possible causes, short etc...? Thanks for your help.

Disposer us going bad. Motor insulation is breaking down. Replace it.
