Good morning everyone. I have a single bulb light fixture plus the opener lights in my 2-car garage and need more light in the back half of the garage for my projects. I'm thinking about tapping into the power from the bulb fixture and putting in some shop lights. Any advice on the best way to do this and what fixtures would be good to use?

I put in lights in my garage like you are wanting to do. One 4 foot/ 4 bulb fixture was mounted where the original light was. For the second one, I cut a hole in the sheet rock in between the joists and installed a box. That was easy to do. The mounting hardware for ceiling fan style boxes makes it an easy installation.

After routing new wire to connect the two, I was good to go.
Note: To mount the fixture to the ceiling, I used drywall anchors like these. They work well.
