Sounds like there be an obstruction in the way of the door safety eyes at the bottom of the tracks or, someone bumped one of the eyes and misaligned them.

Mike nailed your first issue - as for the key it sounds like something got jammed in there or wrong key. Check with a flashlight to see if something is blocking the key & then you can try getting it out

Well I agree mostly....but most people don't have it and sometimes I need the wd 40 to bust it free and than the graphite to lube it.
