Hello, I am in the process of finishing our basement. The next section of wall the stubs were not straight so I had to adjust the bottom plate for them to be square. This however created a small gap at the bottom of the plate (the top plate is flush with the next piece) Can there be a gap between both pressure treated pieces? If not what is the best way to address this? Should I cut a small piece to fill that void?
Short of cutting the top rail off by the same distance and then adding another stud so the spacing doesnt get off what is the right approach? Right now the studs are perfectly straight and level and spaced exactly 16" on center. If I move it over the wall is not perfectly straight and then the spacing is off on the studs are off between the old wall and this new one.
Pictures below for reference.
