Gangway for boat dock

I want to make a gangway and I want to know what would be the best material to use. Would it be wood or use aluminum studs. Plus what kind of wood would I use? The gangway would be 12 feet long x 32 inches wide.

I've seen both used
The wood should be PT near water
Usually you are lugging stuff in & out that are wet

What will the gangway "land" on?
Onto a wood boat dock, floating dock?
Any tides or is this a lake
