I have an American Standard Freedom 80 furnace. I took the doors off to replace the filter and can't get them back on so they will connect with the button that runs the furnace.

Any ideas? Right now I have them propped and leaning against the button si it will run. It's cold here!

Thanks!

Some of the Trane furnaces which are the same as Am Std have a hook type device on the top of the bottom door which hooks into a slot on the upper door or furnace housing. Kinda weird but you have to marry the 2 together. Top door on some has a magnet holding it to the furnace if I rememeber.

After 5 posts you can attach pics here. Go Advanced>Manage attachments. Post pics of the doors and backs of them and where they attach to the furnace.

Should just be the reverse of removal in this case.

Most will have some sore to tension pin that you push them into or a drop in style pin that they mount on and drop down to lock.

Can you post up a picture?

Not sure of that particular system but you can perhaps tape the contact switch down to get it to run instantaneously but it should have the cover reinstalled.

My sympathies.
American Standard have some of the most awkward and counter intuitive furnace doors to get back into the right closed position, even for an HVAC tech.
Putting them in place requires knowing which door should go on first and sometimes needs a little physical force to squeeze it into the right position so that the other door can partially overlap it .

Did you have to unscrew a couple of screws or turn a couple of turnbuckels to remove the door?
Post a photo of the furnace and of both doors.
