So ripped up 5/4 front porch to replace old boards. I see the corner 6x6 post is sitting on a another 6x6, but that 6x6 is rotted, big time. Need ideas for replacing that wood. I was thinking of getting some jack posts, attaching wood to cieling of porch roof to take pressure off the rotting wood. putting another post jack under the vertical 6x6, and 2 more jack posts under the porch flooring beams. I will then cut out rotting 6x6. put a new one in, attach joist hangers, reattach porch flooring beams, and then lower jacks.

You are on the right track. But it's tough to tell for sure from the photo whether or not you have all of your bases covered.

I know the right thing to do would be replace column and put a new one that runs into a concrete footing under porch, but too big a task for me at this point.
