My last house the former owner ran a feed to a shed, it was buried about 6" deep
I've seen that quite a bit
So if you don't have them located then turn the power off 1st & be prepared to replace what you damage
As a private contract locator for multiple utilities for many years, I would strongly advise you to be home when the locators come and ask them to show you where the private lines run. Most of the time they will do this for free even if the call center says they wont, but they will not put down paint for liability reasons. VERY SELDOM will any seasoned locator give depths. Private lines and well lines are tricky. Bonding issues (grounding) and inconsistant depths are common.
