Need to prime new drywall. Local BM store manager suggested Sure Seal over Fresh Start. He said it was a little cheaper but would work great. His advice is always solid so I bought the Sure Seal. Was interested in what you guys think. I have never used Sure Seal but have always had great results with Fresh Start. Thanks.

Sureseal is a decent all purpose int/ext primer, nothing but about 1/2 the price of 046. I only spec fresh start 046 on new drywall if you want 1 primer for everything.



Superspec 253 or superhide 284 are the best BM primers for new drywall.

Sure seal is better for adhesion and stain blocking but not necessarily for new drywall. Superspec 253 is about the same price as sure seal. superhide is just less solids version of 253 and about 10% less. Both spray and roll nicer than sure seal.

Thx. I thought the Sure Seal rolled ok but definitely not like Fresh Start. I used a gallon of each...I had the 046 leftover from another project so it was nice to find a home for it. I have another drywall project in my garage. I’ll try the SuperSpec on it.
