We are trying to make our pantry bigger by taking out where the built-in oven and microwave was next to it I have a framing question the big long vertical stud in the middle am I able to remove that or is that load bearing for the stairs ?

It is load bearing.

It can be replaced with a beam and vertical studding on both sides.
