OK, I am starting from scratch on my replacement windows that I paid a hack to install last year. I completely removed the aluminum frames and reframed it with wood. I have the exterior jambs sticking out 1 1/4" past the celotex. The aluminum frame stuck out 1". I was going to use 3/4 wood to frame around the window. I have 8" wood lap siding and it sticks out past the 3/4" trim about an eight of an inch. Should I leave it that way or find a way to extend it 1/2"? I am doing this so that it will be easier to do vinyl siding in the future. I think it is going to look silly with the trim 1/2" lower than the window jamb. Any ideas how to make it look good? Tia

Looking at pictures from your other threads on this subject all you need is small pile of 1x stock and a table saw (TS mandatory) and cut your trim to whatever you need to be to clean that mess up.

Did I say table saw is mandatory?
