I want to frame-out and close my stair entry and turn it into a storage/closet area. This is for my basement.

I Already have 3 entry points so i will not need stairs. Stairs are already eliminated and i just need to frame to the floor joist.

My question is where would i attach to new basement floor joist? and in which direction?

I would just use 2x8s the long way with hangers

For the one against the wall use one with hidden nails so you can get tight to the wall.

You have a brick wall where normally you would just nail a rim joist.

Don't you think you need one against that wall?

No. you use that special hanger for that one so you can put the joist next to the wall.
