Hello, I'm finishing the basement walls for a bathroom. I'm trying to frame around this new venting but it's positioned right in the middle of the stud wall. I If I frame around it as is, I have to notch out more than 60% of the stud. There is a 1/2" airspace behind the wall, so I can push the vent all the way against the wall and would probably meet the notching requirements, but then the AAV housing wouldn't be flush with the wall anymore. How can I frame around this???

I was thinking of some metal L brackets to fasten to the foundation wall and hold the notched stud steady and spaced the proper distance, and without give if someone leaned on the wall.

Put a nailing plate on the front of the notched stud if the remaining wood is less than 1-1/4 inches. This is to protect the pipe.
