Hi I'm having a problem with my kitchen floor, there is a noticeable hump in the middle of the floor. I went under the house and all the joists seem to be fairly level, but there was about a 3/4 gap in my foundation slab. The block seems to be okay. I live at the base of a hill and get a lot of water run off. So I'm thinking that the water is maybe causing the foundation to drop.(It stays pretty soft under that part of the house.) Could my foundation cause the floor problem, and is that an expensive fix? I'm going to try to put in a french drain to try to catch the water and displace it some where else. Any ideas what else I need to do?
Thanks for any and all help.
