:vs_worry: I'm not sure if anyone would know this but thought it was worth a shot.

I'm trying to figure out if Chinese lightbulbs will work in the US. :vs_bulb: I have the specs for the Chinese bulbs but they are LED bulbs and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to convert the specs to American specs to see if they are compatible.

I read (Google) that European bulbs are made for 220 so they can be used in the US but will be dimmer because we use 110. But I can't find anything like that on Chinese bulbs.

Anyone have any information/knowledge that might help? :vs_worry:

Thanks in advance for your time. :biggrin2:

A 220 volt or 240 volt LED lamp may or may not work at all on 120 volts.

While you could construct a fixture with a transformer for the lamps, the fixture would not be "approved" e.g. with the Underwriters Labs seal of approval.

What are the specs you have?

1 - Depends on the voltage rating
if they say 120v yes they work
if they say 220/230/240 no they may not work.

2 - how do you convert Chinese spec's to American spec's ?
please elaborate ?

3 - The chinese do make 120v Led lamps as well,
But 220v are NOT what you want.
you want 120v led lamps.

4 - Be careful as the quality of some Chinese can be quite poor.

Mains voltage LED lamps are usually specified as being designed to operate on either
AC 110 V to 120 V
AC 220 V to 240 V
AC 86 V to 265 V
- or similar ranges of voltages.

Those that have specifications like "AC 86 V to 265 V" (like many small current devices) would have a "Switch Mode" Power Supply and are unlikely to be "dimmable".
