Hi everyone,
I'm in the market for some stain to put on me recently prep'd deck (chemically stripped and pressure washed, cleaned with deck cleaner and pressure washed, sanded with orbital at 80 grit).
I'm about to pull the trigger on the Arborcoat Semi Transparent (hybrid) stain with its Protective Clear Coat.
My local BM store recommended this to me for staining my deck. They said the Protective Clear can be applied over the stain every year to maintain the proper wood/stain protection from the elements.
I wanted oil/alkyd based stain at first but the person at BM store told me that regulations will discontinue oil/alkyd based stain in the near future.
Since it is a a fairly new (1-2 year old) product I was wondering if anyone had some experience with this new product line? Should I go ahead with this new formula or stick with some oil/alkyd based (such as Sikkens SRD).
That stuff (Arborcoat) is not cheap neither. They go for 50$ CAD a gallon for the stain and 50$ CAD a gallon for the protective clear. (Yes, althought canadian dollars and US dollars are pretty much on par, we still pay more for our stuff up here...)
Some advices and recommendations would be gladly appreciated.
Thanks
