Fluted window trim question

662 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  BigJim
This is a trim sold at Lowes. If you look closely, you'll see that one side has a wider edge than the other. It's more noticeable in petson. My question is, which edge goes in toward the wiindow?

If both sides are the same thickness I don't think it matters as long as you are consistent.
Fluted molding is made to go either way. One way is convex and the other is concave. No matter which you use, make sure you carry through with it all the way.
The heavy side is the outside of the window or door trim. I thought that molding above was called beaded and the concaved was fluted.
They have 2 styles very similar. One is called beaded and one is called fluted. I chose fluted because the grooves and lines are more defined.
Sorry, this is the only ones we are exposed to here. It contains both flutes on the same board. https://www.homedepot.com/p/EverMar...Jointed-Casing-Set-7-Piece-620-662C/202087162

That is too cool, one way to save materials. First time I have seen that, but it has been years since I was in business. I always made all my fluted trim anyway. New things all the time now days.
