Anyone had any experience successfully using a particlar type or brand of gfci to protect a circuit with fluorscent lighting on it? I wired my garage without realizing these two had issues with eachother.
I may have to eliminate the gfci (protecting whole garage) and put individual gfci's in for each outlet but that is $$. The lights and outlets all share a common neutral so I can't separate them.

BTW, I have both magnetic and electronic ballasts mixed. 16 fixtures total.

Modern, properly functioning fluorescent fixtures to not trip GFCIs. Some older fixtures may leak enough current to ground (halfway intentionally, since capacitive coupling to the chassis is used to aid starting the lamp) to trip a GFCI - especially if there are many fixtures on one circuit. So it isn't so much that fluorescent lighting doesn't play well with GFCIs, it's more that old fluorescent lighting tends to have minor ground faults and GFCIs do their job. I'd say to use only electronic ballasts, or power the lights from a non-GFCI circuit.
