Bought a universal all-in-one fluidmaster repair kit with the fill valve, flush valve. Right out of the box the fill valve height adjustment did not work. The shank just spins in place without actually adjusting height. I tried with the locking ring off, and nothing. With the locking ring on I can't even turn the shank with full force. Went back to home depot to exchange it. Guess what? Same thing...the damn height adjustment isn't working. Do these people QC their products? :vs_mad:

I don't think there is a wrong way to do it. I've watched the video on fluidmaster's website. In the video it shows the shank easily turning with the locking ring in place. Mine won't turn with the locking ring in place period. It's jammed. With the locking ring off, it just spins without adjusting the height.

Sounds like you may have gotten a bad one-----odd, I've installed perhaps a hundred of those without an issue---but ???

Go get another one----

Turning doesn't adjust the height, slide the lock ring off, pull or push the upper and lower to the desired height and the return the lock ring. You will feel the 2 pcs slip past the barbs. Use the screw on the float for fine adjustment.

All videos show that it should adjust by simply turning the shank counterclockwise with the locking ring on. I've tried pulling on it while turning it with the locking ring off, and just outright pulling the shank downwards with all force. It will not budge.

Does fluidmaster refurbish their products? The fill valve had all sorts of scratches and marks right out of the box. Also, the packaging had melted spots where the two sides of packaging clamp in together.
