Washington DC metro area, hardiness zone : 7

Semi-shape area, along the wall, probably 15 feet long and 2 feet wide.

I would like to plant some flowers, ideally less than 2 feet maturity height.

Hopefully it will come back every year (not prefer to spend time and money on planting flowers every year).

Currently, I have some Variegated Lilyturf, but the color is boring, at least I prefer to have them mixed with some colorful flowers.

I was thinking about rose, but it is bush, and way more than 2 feet maturity height. 2 feet width is not enough for bush too. Unless there is small size rose.

I prefer container size flower, not big-size bush.

Thanks.

How about a picture?

Also, the most critical detail, is how much sun and and how much water?

That, as much as anything will guide recommendations. If you have at least half a day's direct sunlight, that's full sun, especially reflected against a wall.

Keep in mind that non bush flowers vary from annuals to perennials. Annuals bloom a long while, then have to be replaced.

Then probably I will go with small size bush or perennial flower.

Thanks.

Something like this at our son's house might be acceptable. A knockout rose between short sections of Boxwood hedge or once / year shape the Boxwood to your liking, possibly a sphere.

Height/Spread: 3 to 4 feet tall and wide

Thanks. It is still too big for me, and it prefers Full Sun. My neighbor house maybe less than 20 feet away, and he has a big tree too. So there is not much sun.

I probably should go with shade tolerate small size bush. The disadvantage of perennial flower: there is nothing left during winter season, probably more than 4 months, that being said, it does not look good for some months.
