Hi,

I'm replacing my wood flooring with tile. I already have part of my house tiled and wanted to tile the rest of it to match. FCA came and checked on what I had, told me they had the same tile in stock and could match it then came out and ripped out all the existing flooring in preparation for this tile. Turns out the tile they have does NOT match and they can't find it. What are my options? Are they required now to come up with a repair scenario that I will not be obligated to pay for such as: replacing all the wood flooring they ripped up OR replacing ALL the tile with a style that will be consistent throughout my house OR am I out of luck and have to find an attorney?

Look on the box and get the make and model off of it and Google it.

Sorry, it's a local flooring company. We did use the existing tile information as a reference but the company, apparently, made a mistake when referencing it as they've been unable now to find a match anywhere.

Styles change and every run of tile is a bit different than the last one----

I believe you were hoping for the impossible---tile setters always check that all boxes are from the same lot----hoping for a match after a while---sorry ,but that's very unlikely to ever happen--

FCA?---I don't think calling a lawyer is going to be much use---how can you hold someone responsible for having something available that you have not yet purchased--

Part of the issue (which I failed to explain that well) is that they originally said they had the tile from the same lot and that it was a match. When they got ready to install it, they discovered they were wrong and it wasn't the same lot. I guess what I'm getting to is wondering what, if any, responsibility they may have in correcting this situation. They proceeded with their assumption and ripped out all of my other flooring in preparation for the tile they said matched. What do I do about getting that fixed?

That's a very different situation-----

They should make that right----ask if they have enough to do the entire floor---then suggest that they do the whole shot on their own---at their expense----

Sorry I did not understand the situation----you are right-----some time a compromise is needed--so see what they say----

did they check to see that the tile matched before they tore the old floor out?

How long after the first tiles were installed did this happen? I have this feeling that they never had the matching tiles. Just a hunch.

The existing tile flooring was done 2 years ago so it would have been a stretch to match even the same lot but they assured me it would work and was the same. I thought it was iffy given the time that had elapsed. I'm hoping they come back and suggest what was mentioned in an earlier post, that they offer to do the entire floor with a new tile (replacing what's there already at their expense, I'm happy to pay for all the new tiling and labor but not to replace what's already there given the mishap).

And no, they didn't check the tile before they tore out the floor although I thought they did. Turns out they didn't.
