I have a floor nailer that, all of a sudden, starting trying to shoot 2 cleats instead of 1. There is no safety seat or anything like that, its the type you have to hit with a mallet to fire. I've checked my air pressure, the tool has been oiled properly, and I've verified that I'm using the correct size cleats (16 gauge L cleats, 1 1/2" long). Can anyone tell me what the issue could be?

Try oiling the slide the cleats sit in and the front nose assembly.
WD-40 will work for this. Be conservative in the amount you place in this area, especially if the wood is unfinished since the oil may stain the wood.
Canola oils have been used instead of WD-40 in these cases.

For example, I own an electric chain saw which I use on Timber Frames and have only ever used Canola oil in that saw.
