Hi there, we recently had an installer lay LVP in our basement and after about a week we noticed several (softsposts) in the floor. I called the installer and what do you know he hasn't returned any of my messages.....

so we had to take things into our own hands... so to level the floor out/make it flat we used self level concrete since it wasn't huge area. My brother works with concrete for a living so he assisted. However the floor still ended up with low several spots of atleast 3/16 of an inch over 4 feet. So picked up some floor patch and went to town in the worst areas.

I still have areas that have dips of about 1/8 and even if I put the pad and flooring down and "test" step on it I'll still see some movement in the boards.

So my question is, how much does having the boards locked together and base trim on help hold the planks flat. Or how much flex can I observe via testing by standing on it before I know it's "safe" to re-lay the floor?

Typical "luxury vinyl" planks will eventually conform to the shape of the substrate, so if there are dips underneath the vinyl planks, in a year or 2, there will be dips in the floor. Not sure about the new thicker "rigid core" vinyl flooring.
