1st, try wearing shoes :smile: if that doesn't work out well, you can either diamond grind, resurface - OR both,,, polymer-modified cement mixes work best for overlaying (resurfacing)

better materials can be found on concretenetwork.com rather than the apron/vest stores altho we've had good luck w/'cement-all' in the blue box for a local mtl

I think the grinding might work in theory, but I'd be worried that it would rip out any number of exposed stones, creating a new problem. I'd also be aprehensive to skim coat it, as most exposed agg. jobs I've seen have very dense, smooth stones, which doesn't bode well for bonding something on top of them........

unless i misread the op, the goal's a comfortable walking surface, right ? didn't read where they wanted to keep the look but i read fast

therefore, so what if grinding pulls ' out some of the aggregate from the surface ' ? tell me how to make an omelet w/o breaking eggs :wink2: perhaps combining grinding + overlay may best accomplish the op's goal - comfortable tootsies,,, however, w/o pics, no one really knows
